Notes from the report
- A noticeable trend has been that roughly 70% or more of investigations emerge from staff/client allegations. And between 16-20% of all investigations have resulted in ‘substantiated’ findings.
- Between 2023 and 2024, the number of substantiated investigations remained the same at 6. In 2022 the total number of substantiated investigations was 5. Of the 17 substantiated allegations over the last 3 years, 12 were forwarded to Law Enforcement for criminal investigation.
- Recommended and implemented changes include consistent PREA Refresher Training for staff as well as PREA training for new employees. Improved facility signage, the availability of rape crisis information and services and increased education regarding PREA Prevention and reporting for residents.
- ICCS Kendall and Weld have completed the most recent PREA audits and have since implemented changes as a result of corrective action. Those changes include PREA training for Mental Health Staff as well as continued use of current procedures regarding the completion of 5-year background checks for all employees.
- All recommended changes are addressed on an ongoing basis.
